This week the BBC in cahoots with the Labour Party have given us a preview of how the 2010 General Election will be covered and fought. There are four clear examples of the sinister and worryingly Stalinist way in which these discredited organisations are going to behave.
First lets take the issue of unemployment figures, on the day it was announced nearly a quarter of a million people had been thrown out of work in the last 3 months what did the BBC do? It focused its attention on a campaign group run by left wing extremists and un reconstructed socialists. It was a full 10 hours from the figures being released before an opposition spokesman was quoted.
The Alan Duncan episode was a typical Mandelson inspired story. We all know Alan has a sense of humour something the socialists and left wing journalists are lacking. I am not sure Alan got his timing right and under the circumstances it probably wasn’t his best move. But is this really headline news? And why was the BBC using illegal footage of an individual trespassing on private property and vandalising it. Further more it is illegal to take video equipment into the Palace of Westminster so again who supplied the BBC with the footage and why did they use it? Its hardly an issue of national security Dunky having a poor Joke.
George Osbourne makes a detailed policy speech and the response we get is a cheap remark about cross dressing from Lord Mandy of Rio. He should know.
More worrying is the Dan Hannah story and the comments of Andy Burnham. Dan Hannah is a bit of a berk and clearly is unhinged when it comes to social skills. However Burnham was a disgrace in his comments. To accuse Hannah of being unpatriotic is a cynical ploy used by soviet and fascist dictatorships. He then goes on to attack David Cameron for window dressing and PR when it comes to NHS policy. This is offensive in the extreme when you consider how his family have used the service. David Cameron has more passion for the NHS than any Conservative politician I have ever known.
This week has show how personal smears and over hyped comments will play a part in the BBC/ Labour pincer movement come the General Election. You have been warned, remember lose lips sink ships. I should know.
